For well over 100 years, dogs have been trained and used by law enforcement agencies to aid in police work. Today, K-9 units are important members of the police force. These four-legged officers, such as the dogs of the Pasco Sheriff’s office K-9 Unit, work hard every day to keep our neighborhoods and families safe and secure.
Intelligence, aggression, strength, and an acute sense of smell are just a few of the traits that police dogs possess. Some police canine breeds include the German Short-Haired Pointer, Bloodhound, Boxer, Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, Doberman, and Rottweiler.
